Colourpop It's My Pleasure Palette (Review and Swatches)

Colourpop It's My Pleasure Palette (Review and Swatches)

The Colourpop It's My Pleasure palette is one of Colourpop's 9 pan monochromatic palettes. This purple palette is gorgeous when you look at it. It has 3 mattes, one matte with flecks of glitter and 5 metallics. The mix of matte and metallics really set this palette up to be a well rounded purple palette. The Bling Boss by Morphe X Jaclyn Hill was gorgeous but it's missing a mid-tone purple to help blend out the dark shades, where this palette has both and I have a much easier time creating looks. I might use this palette to help me with the Bling Boss.

L'Oreal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation Review

L'Oreal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation Review

The L'Oreal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear is one of the newest foundations to come to the drugstore and I've heard so many positive reviews that I really wanted to give it a try myself. This foundation claims to be medium to full coverage, breathable and lightweight. I will say I was surprised by how thin the texture was and the coverage that I received with a sponge. It was medium coverage right away, and yes it builds up nicely. The finish is very natural, and I do agree with their "second skin" claim. Additionally, the formula has oil absorbers to resist swear, water and transfer. I really don't like when foundations transfer so that was a nice bonus. This foundation is good for all skin types and comes in 30 shades.

Revlon Rose Glow Illuminating and Hydrating Primer

The Revlon Rose Glow Hydrating and Illuminating Primer was a new find at my local drugstore. I'm not sure how new it is because beauty products do get to Canada a bit later. This is a Photoready product in Revlon's line. You know I love the L'Oreal Glotion and thought this might be another base product that I would love. It claims to have "many benefits, one little bottle; smoothes skin for foundation, deposits a rosy pearlescence; plus, it helps skin feel hydrated for up to 24 hours." I thought it would be another product I would like on its own when wanting to forgo the foundation.

Morphe 35V Stunning Vibes (Review and Swatches)

Morphe 35V Stunning Vibes (Review and Swatches)

It's been a few months since I picked up a Morphe palette. The last palettes I purchased from Morphe was from their holiday collection. The blues and purples of this palette really drew me in, this palette was exclusively sold at Ulta and due to customs and exchange, I didn't purchase it. When Sephora Canada released it, I was able to pick it up in store.

Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara (Review) A new favorite.

Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara (Review) A new favorite.
Benefit's Badgal Bang mascara has quickly become a favourite, which says a lot because I'm picky when it comes to mascara. I need all the help I can get with volume and length. This mascara claims to be a 36 hours mascara, that "creates massive volume without weighing down the lashes." I did not test the 36 hours, because who needs a 36-hour mascara? I remember the brand trips when this first launched and it was spaced themes which I didn't really understand until I read that this was a "gravity-defying formula [that] builds volume the more you layer, and contain aero-particles, one of the lightest known materials, derived from space technology." That put it into perspective for me, and I do really find it to be a lightweight formula.

Why Do Women Wear Makeup? Looking at Makeup in a positive, uplifting light. (Blogger Collaboration)

Why Do Women Wear Makeup? Looking at Makeup in a positive, uplifting light. (Blogger Collaboration)

As a makeup wearer, I really don't like the negative stereotypical responses that I hear about wearing makeup. We've all seen these meme's pop up. If you choose to wear makeup that's your choice; if you don't that's yours as well. I don't believe in uplifting yourself while putting others down. Women are not wearing makeup for attention, we're not wearing makeup because we're being deceitful, and we're not wearing it for men. Makeup is a form of expression, a form of art, it's a form of self-care and there's nothing wrong with it. The beauty industry is huge and many influencers have been able to create their own businesses because of makeup. That's amazing! The roundup of women wearing makeup is so diverse that you cannot put the makeup wearers into a "one size fits all" box. Women of all ages are wearing makeup and the ability to learn about applying makeup is so much easier to obtain in today's social media driven world. Youtube and blogging have taught me so much.

Beauty Glazed | Mars Palette (Review and Swatches)

Beauty Glazed | Mars Palette (Review and Swatches)

The Beauty Glazed 9 pan palettes really caught my attention when Tammi Clarke on Youtube compared the Beauty Glazed to the Huda Beauty 9 pan palettes. They have similar concepts, and packaging but Beauty Glazed is not an exact match up in terms of colour. They've give their own take on these colour stories and named them after planets. The Mars palette seemed like it would have colours that I would love. I thought for 6$ including shipping I would give it a try too. I really didn't expect to like this palette but once I swatched it, I couldn't wait to try it out.

Maybelline Snapscara (Black and Black Cherry) Review and Swatches

Maybelline Snapscara (Black and Black Cherry) Review and Swatches

Maybelline Snapscara is a fairly new mascara at the drugstore. It claims to be "on and off in a snap." The formula for the Snapscara is wax free and idea for sensitive eyes. The formula allows you to easily remove the mascara with a cotton pad and warm water only and no rubbing on the eyes. Sounds great, right? Well as for removing the mascara I did find it very easy to remove and didn't have residue left over in the morning. Some mascaras are so hard to remove that you feel like you're damaging your lashes in the process.

Sephora Wishlist (What Caught My Attention At Sephora)

Sephora Wishlist (What Caught My Attention At Sephora)

I frequently visit Sephora online and in store. I work near a Sephora and can easily visit during my lunch break and as a fellow makeup addict, it's tempting to see all those products in display. These are some products that I have added to my wishlist that I hope to pick up at some point. Some sooner rather than later.

Clinique On the Glow Trio
The Clinique On the Glow Trio Palette fits into my love for "all in one" products. As a working mom and someone who is trying to get ready quickly in the morning. I love multitasking palettes that I can use as a bronzer, blush, highlighter and be able to quickly move on to the next part of my routine. My makeup lovers have raved about the Cheek Pops but I've never had a chance to try one. I think this would be a great option to give them a try. Purchase

Amazon Finds: 5-1 Curling Wand (Great for beginners)

Amazon Finds: 5-1 Curling Wand (Great for beginners)

I've always wanted to be able to curl my hair and have nice beachy waves but I have long thick hair and could never figure out a curling iron that had a clip. My ends were always looking chopped. I thought a wand style might be easier for me. I purchased this 5-1 curling wand through Amazon and was ecstatic when I realized that it is possible for me to do my hair at home.

Revolution Beauty Chocolate Rose Gold Palette (Review and Swatches)

Revolution Beauty Chocolate Rose Gold Palette (Review and Swatches)

Is that another eyeshadow palette? Yes, I can't help myself. Eyeshadow palettes are a serious weakness of mine. This is the Revolution Beauty [I Heart Makeup] Chocolate Rose Gold palette and I've had it on my wishlist for a while. When it comes to the Revolution Beauty palettes the Chocolate palettes took a back seat to the Reloaded and Revolution Pro formula. I've really been enjoying those palettes that I didn't jump at the chance to order this one. Recently, I saw it at my local Winners for 10$ and decided it was a great time to pick it up and now have to pay for shipping. Reviews for this palette were mixed and I wasn't sure what to expect. The first time I tried the palette I was happy with the results and overall it is a really nice palette.

Empties (Facial Mists, Body Wash, Toner, Micellar Water, Makeup Brush Cleaner)

Body Shop, Pearlessence, LOreal, Pixi, Garnier, Quo, Physicians Formula)

Empties are always fun to read about because you know the products have really been tested out if you've gotten to the bottom. I don't go through products that quickly because I'm usually rotating and testing through a few brands. I will continue to post my empties because it does encourage me to finish products. Have you tried any of these? What did you think?

Pearlessence Coconut Rose Facial Mist: I've repurchased this a few times, and I will purchase a new one when I see my local Winners has them in stock. To be honest I prefer the Coconut one over the Coconut Rose but I'll take what I can get because this is not a brand I can get my hands on easily in Canada. This comes in a glass bottle, and the nozzle has a nice consistent mist which I really like.

Makeup Radar: Cheekbone Beauty Stardust, Makeup Revolution Vitality, Lierac Lift Integral, Emile Cordon Lip Care)

Makeup Radar: Cheekbone Beauty Stardust, Makeup Revolution Vitality, Lierac Lift Integral, Emile Cordon Lip Care)

Today, we're going to talk about four products that have been on my radar this month. Four products that I keep going back to constantly because I've been enjoying them so much. Trying out new products and discovering ones that I truly love is why I enjoy blogging so much. It allows me to share products and what I think of them. Let's get into the products:

Mom On The Go Affordable Makeup (Beginner Friendly)

Mom On The Go Affordable Makeup (Beginner Friendly)

A Makeup routine doesn't have to be complicating or overwhelming when putting together your routine. When I'm in a hurry; when I don't want to think too much about my look these are the affordable makeup products that I know will give me the look that I want. I can also apply them quickly and know how they perform. Here are some of my tips and tricks when putting together that no fuss, easy and dependable makeup routine.

Rude Cosmetics Too Much Drama (Review and Swatches) Dupe for Huda Rose Gold Palette

Rude Cosmetics Too Much Drama (Review and Swatches) Dupe for Huda Rose Gold Palette

Does this palette look familiar? I don't own the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette but it looks like a dupe to me. I'm sure formula's are different. I purchased this palette to see how I felt about Rude Cosmetics, I haven't heard much about this brand. They're a US based company founded in 2016. They strive to provide high quality products at "comfortable" prices. They've really caught my eye after trying out this palette.

My Struggles as a Smaller Beauty Blogger | Discussion and Tips

My Struggles as a Smaller Beauty Blogger | Discussion and Tips

We see a lot of tips and tricks about blogging around the community but I wanted to discuss what my struggles are as a small beauty blogger and what I'm doing to overcome these obstacles. When it comes to Mrs. Q Beauty, I really feel like this is my little corner of the internet. I'm a mom, wife, and beauty enthusiast. I started wearing makeup as a new mom because I was so tired all the time, and I wanted to do something that would make me feel better. Mrs. Q Beauty is my creative outlet, and I would love to grow my audience. Here are 5 areas that I struggled with as a new blogger, and as a smaller blogger.

Niche down or not? I've been going back and forth if I should open this blog up to books and or more lifestyle content. Ultimately, I decided that I should niche down and write about beauty. My reason for this is because I want to start looking more into beauty and not just product reviews. I felt like I was wanting to open up this blog to other content because I was feeling stuck. I started brainstorming and coming up with more and more beauty related posts, and I'm excited to get more creative over here. Stay tuned. My advice to you about choosing a niche or opening it up to other content is to look at why you're doing it. If you're truly passionate about it, great. In my case, I wanted to include book reviews but when it came time to write them, I didn't want to do it. As a former book blogger, I realized I was going back to it because it was a comfort zone for content.

Urban Decay Naked Cherry and Revolution Beauty Reloaded Provocative Palette (Dupe/Alternative)

Urban Decay Naked Cherry and Revolution Beauty Reloaded Provocative Palette (Dupe/Alternative)

The Urban Decay Naked Cherry palette is one that I fell in love with when it was first launched. I tried to talk myself out of it, I looked through my collection to see what I already had but in the end, I decided to purchase it. The rosy/mauve shades are so beautiful. Revolution Beauty launched new Reloaded palettes and the Provocative palette caught my eye. I didn't realize it was a dupe for the Naked Cherry until I brought it home and started playing around with the palette. When I swatched them side by side, I realized that the Provocative palette was a great alternative.

Two Drugstore Primers: I'Oreal Infallible Glow-Lock, and Hard Candy Sheer Envy Hydrating Primer

Two Drugstore Primers: I'Oreal Infallible Glow-Lock, and Hard Candy Sheer Envy Hydrating Primer

I didn't know what all the fuss was about when it came to primers until I started using them. Today, I'm going to review the L'Oreal Infallible Glow-Lock primer and the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Hydrating primer, both have been in my rotation and I've had a long time to put my thoughts together.

Let's talk about the L’Oreal Infallible Glow Lock primer. If you're looking at this product in the drugstore, you will see a Glow-Lock version and a Matte-Lock version. I don't typically look for matte complexion products, but I was curious about the Glow-Lock version. This primer does provide some hydration, it blurs imperfections, gives you a pearlescent base that stays tacky. This tackiness helps to lock in a radiant foundation for longer lasting wear time. I haven’t tried many tacky primers, I know some makeup gurus swear by them but I do feel like it helped to lock in what I was putting on top. Typically, dewy foundations are not as long lasting as a matte foundation but the Glow-Lock helps to lock it in place. In the summer months, this would be perfect. It's very lightweight and quick to apply. If you're looking at the Glow-Lock and thinking about the L'Oreal Glotion, they're two very different products. The Glotion can be worn on no makeup days, it doesn’t stay tacky and it provides a radiance on its own. The Glow-Lock has a little bit of a glow but not much. Its purpose is to really hold on to the glowy product you put on top.

NYX Cosmetics Phoenix Ultimate Shadow Palette (Review and Swatches)

NYX Cosmetics Phoenix Ultimate Shadow Palette (Review and Swatches)

NYX Cosmetics recently added two palettes (Ash and Phoenix) to the Ultimate Shadow palettes. Ash is a cool-toned palette, and Phoenix is the one that immediately grabbed my attention. I'm always so drawn to warm red sunset colour stories. This was my first time trying the Ultimate Shadow palettes from NYX, previously I tried the Multi-Finish palette which I did like. This palette consists of 16 shades including matte, shimmer and metallic shadows.

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist Review

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist Review

The Morphe Continuous setting mist was a product I knew I would pick up at some point. It's raved about throughout the beauty community and I don't think I've heard one negative review about the product. Even from beauty lovers who weren't the typically Morphe fans. In my opinion, setting mists are essential. They help to melt all the powders together, take away any powdery look and really give you that final touch.

Boscia Charcoal Makeup Melter Review (Sephora)

Boscia Charcoal Makeup Melter Review (Sephora)

Makeup remover is one of my favorite things to test out. As a busy mom, I want to remove my makeup in the quickest time possible. I also prefer not to look like a panda bear in the morning due to unwashed mascara; my dark circles are all my son's fault and they don't need to look any worst due to a poor makeup remover. I was new to a charcoal makeup remover and decided to try out this Boscia version. My first impressions were "oh, it's thick."

Cheekbone Beauty Wishlist : Cheek Palette, Liquid Lipsticks

Cheekbone Beauty Wishlist : Cheek Palette, Liquid Lipsticks

Cheekbone Beauty has been a brand that I've kept my eye on since I discovered them. They have Canadian made cosmetics and the owner Jenn Harper strives to support First Nations Education by donating 10% of the profits. If you know me, you know I'm a Mi'gmaq First Nation and I wholeheartedly believe that great change can be made through knowledge and education. The mission of Cheekbone Beauty makes me so thrilled that Jenn is working to make a change. Great achievements can be made with numbers, and the time is now. Why does this mission mean alot to me? Well education funding for Indigenous youth living on reserve is typically 30 to 50 percent less than those kids not living on reserve. As a mother, I want more for our indigenous youth.

First, I want to mention that I have become a brand ambassador for Cheekbone Beauty. I'm so happy to stand behind a brand like this and I hope I can get the word out about this company. I have purchased their Sundance Lip gloss (Review) and I use it often. I would welcome all the glosses into my home, because those are my favorite lip products. The cheek palette (Stardust palette) has been on my wishlist for awhile, and I will be picking it up soon. I mostly use face palettes, and this trio seems like it would be great for every day wear. There is also a contour palette called Earth, if you are interested.

If you know me, you also know I'm not a big lipstick person but their liquid Lipsticks in Melina (Rosy Peachy Nude) and Ashley (Plum Rose Pink) are on my wishlist. These seem like two nude shades that I would wear and like to have in my collection. These liquid lips claim to be matte and last up to 8 hours. The entire liquid lip range has names of strong women who have empowered our communities and that alone makes me happy. I would love to do an entire post about these women and the lipsticks.

At this time, I do have a discount code for anyone that is interested; it will give you 10% off. You can use code JENNR66. You can go to their site here. Thank you so much for your support! I will also keep a banner on my site.

Revolution Pro Unleashed Palette (Review and Swatches)

Revolution Pro Unleashed Palette (Review and Swatches)

This is a palette that really surprised me, I had it in my collection for months before I finally started playing around with it. Previously, I was intimidated by colorful eyeshadows especially purples. You often hear about how hard purples are to work with. I've recently started to try more in terms of shade selection and I discovered that purple isn't as scary as I thought it was. Blend and build and you'll be okay. Revolution Beauty have a Revolution Pro range and these Regeneration palettes have really become favorites of mine. They tend to be around 12$, and they blend easily. I prefer these palettes over the Reloaded palettes which are more popular.

January Haul (Morphe, Sephora, NYX, Curling Wand 5-1)

January Haul (Morphe, Sephora, NYX, Amazon Curling Wand 5-1)

I slowed down my purchases in January, and these were all purchased at the end of the month. This month has been a bit strange, after the holidays I've felt pretty drained. My husband had a never ending cold, and that took a toll on us. My mother in law has also been feeling unwell, and we like to check up on her daily. Our weather has been all over the place and I haven't been motivated. I really need to see the sun, and it hasn't been around much. I really hope to work through this for February. I don't like feeling unproductive and unmotivated.

Zoella Milky Way Bath Powder and Star Glazer Lip Balm Duo

Zoella Milky Way Bath Powder and Star Glazer Lip Balm Duo

Can we talk about the packaging and how beautiful it is? The cosmic design of the Zoella Christmas collection 2018 really caught my eye. I was gifted both of these around the holidays and decided to review them. In Canada Zoella Beauty products can be purchased at London Drugs, select Pharmasave and Familiprix stores. This collection also included a hand cream and fragrance mist quad. I would have like to try those as well.

January Reading Log Part 1 (The Alice Network, 99 Percent, Trickster Drift)

January Reading Log Part 1 (The Alice Network, 99 Percent, Trickster Drift)

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn (Source: Personal Copy)

I started the year reading The Alice Network after reading rave reviews. Historical fiction has always been a favorite genre of mine. I wanted to start my reading year out strong, and picked this up. It’s 1947, Charlie St Clair is pregnant and told by her “proper” parents that she “needs to take care of it” because there is no husband around. Charlie uses the overseas trip to breaks free, and discover what really happened to her missing cousin Rose during the war. She has one lead, and shows up on Eve Gardiner’s doorstep. Eve is not the most welcoming,  she has no intention of helping Charlie- until she utters a name that Eve hasn’t heard in decades. Eve turns out to be a former spy during the war. This dual narrative read is truly captivating. 5/5 Stars

BH Cosmetics Desert Oasis (Review and Swatches) Neutral palette

BH Cosmetics Desert Oasis (Review and Swatches) Neutral palette

When I was new to makeup and building my collection, I frequently purchased from BH Cosmetics. It's been awhile since I picked up anything, not because of negative experiences just that I was trying other brands. The Desert Oasis was around the beauty community, and I heard so many positive things about this palette. Influencers were saying that it was their best formula to date, and I really wanted to give it a try.

5 Positive Makeup and Beauty Habits

5 Positive Makeup and Beauty Habits

Do you have routines and habits? Do you try to form new habits? I've heard that it takes 21 days to form a habit. I do well with good routines, and habits. If something becomes a habit, it's something that you just do. It doesn't feel like you're overreaching and making something difficult. If you think of it as a task, it's less likely to happen. I'm the same with my makeup habits.

Here are 5 Makeup Habits that are positive and good to put into your routine.

Korres Wild Rose 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum Review

Korres Wild Rose 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum Review

The Korres Wild Rose 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum claims to be "a powerful 15% vitamin C brightening bi-phase serum that helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots, dullness and skin discolorations for luminous skin." I've been using it for a few months, and decided it was time to give it a review. When it comes to skincare it takes me awhile to review the products because I want to really see what it does to my skin and I feel like it takes awhile to test it out.

Current Complexion Products Winter, Dry Skin Edition

Current Complexion Products Winter, Dry Skin Edition

It's winter, it's very cold outside and my skin tends to get dry. It has been doing much better this winter because I have a skincare routine in place. When it comes to my complexion, I was looking for radiance and hydration. This winter, I found a great selection of products that I've been really enjoying. As usual there's a mix of drugstore and higher end products.

ColourPop Sol Palette (Review and Swatches)

ColourPop Sol Palette (Review and Swatches)

Colourpop recently had free worldwide shipping, and one of the palettes that I picked up was the Sol palette. I had my eye on it for awhile and thought this would be a great time to pick it up. For some reason I thought this palette would be more red and less orange. When I first opened it up, I thought....oh, this wasn't what I expected. However, I really come to enjoy this palette.

December Makeup Haul (Pharmaprix, Mascara, Urban Decay, Quo)

December Makeup Haul (Pharmaprix, Mascara, Urban Decay, Quo)

If you're a blogger on a budget or want to watch what you're spending- keep track of it. Each month, I list out what I purchase and keep a total. It adds up fast and seeing the total can really keep you on track. I decided that I would start showing my monthly makeup/beauty hauls and December was a great month to start. I didn't really buy alot because I had so much Christmas stuff going on. I mentioned being more intentional with what I purchase this year, and I've been doing pretty good. So here is what I picked up:

Top 6 Books of 2018: Books You Won't Want To Put Down

Top 6 Books of 2018: Books You Won't Want To Put Down

If you’re a reader or you have a goal to read more books; I have some recommendations for you. 2018 wasn’t my best reading year, but I did read some incredible books. I closed out the year reading 38 books. I’ve always been a reader, I was a former book blogger and to this day I still see myself in Rory Gilmore and her love of books. For 2019, I hope to read more and share some of these books with you. There is something so satisfying about a pile of books waiting to be read and the possible journeys that they will bring you on.

Urban Decay Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette (Review and Swatches)

Urban Decay Naked Cherry (Review and Swatches)

I had my eye on the Naked Cherry palette since it launched, and I managed to stay away until I had enough points collected at my local drugstore to get it for free. Looking at this palette, many of the colors could be found in other palettes, it wasn't a palette I had to have right away. I wrote a post here, when I was trying to talk myself out of this palette. When I finally had my hands on it, I couldn’t wait to give it a try.
